PLAYA DAY CLUB 1920 1280 The Mellors Group

A brand new experience awaits the people of Nottingham and visitors to the city this summer in the shape of a luxury beach club – the Playa Day Club and Restaurant to complement the Nottingham Beach.

Inspired by beach clubs from overseas, this pop-up restaurant-bar concept will bring a touch of class and glamour to the city centre when it opens on Friday 12 July for six weeks.

Whereas Nottingham Beach will be open to everyone as usual, the Playa Day Club and Restaurant, will be for over 18s only and will be open daily from 10am and a dress to impress code will apply.  Guests will be able to enjoy a VIP experience as they relax and soak up the sun on pool-side style day beds and deluxe pool pods, normally seen gracing the sandy shores of the Mediterranean, whilst sipping a summery cocktail and enjoying live music and entertainment.

The stylish restaurant at Playa Day Club is being headed up by Nottingham chef, Laurence Henry who recently won BBC MasterChef: The Professionals. With indoor and outdoor seating, it will be the perfect location for businesses to entertain clients and guests as it becomes the ‘go-to’ venue for city workers to gather for after-work drinks and sharing platters.

Keeping to beach club traditions, special Brunch events will be taking place on various Sundays throughout the summer: 14 July, 4 August and 25 August 2019.

The company behind this brand new concept for the city is the Mellors Group who have teamed up with club promotions ACES Events, who have hosted parties at some of the most prestigious venues around the globe and will be organising the live entertainment for the club which will include a programme of DJ performances late afternoon and into the evening every Saturday.

Nottingham Beach returns to the heart of the city for some serious summer family fun with more sand and more entertainment than ever.  There will be a number of traditional rides and games as well as beach BBQs and a bar catering for all ages. This year’s entertainment schedule is packed full of live music from local bands and artists, movie nights under the stars, beach volleyball tournaments and Just Ben hosting Variety on the Beach.

“The Beach is very popular with families so we wanted to bring this back again, making it bigger and better than ever before.  However we also wanted to give Nottingham a different experience this summer – something of quality that would appeal to the professional market,” said Edward Mellors, a director of the Mellors Group.

“For anyone looking for a venue for a corporate event with a difference this summer, Playa Day Club and Restaurant will be perfect.  Similarly it will be the ideal place to meet with clients and work colleagues or simply to relax and socialise with friends.”

Laurence Henry said: “I am buzzing to be working with the Mellors Group on this exciting project and grateful for the opportunity to present my food to the people of Nottingham who have been so supportive of my journey so far.”

Joel Seymour, co-creator of ACES Events said: “We are delighted to be showcasing a selection of the country’s finest DJ’ing talents accompanied by musicians, dancers and acts to create a truly unique beachside vibe for people to enjoy in Nottingham.”

Cllr Dave Trimble – Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and IT at Nottingham City Council said: “The new Playa Day Club offer is very exciting with its resort-like feel and will certainly keep people entertained and make sure our city centre is buzzing right through the summer.  We are pleased that we will also be welcoming back the much loved Nottingham Beach. It’s so great to see families and people of all ages enjoying everything it has to offer from rides and sideshows to having a wonderful day out with fun time in the water and sand or relaxing and catching a few summer rays on a lunch break.”

Places will be limited at Playa Day Club and Restaurant so people are encouraged to book in advance to reserve places and tables by going to www.playadayclub.co.uk. The price paid will be transferred to a bar credit on arrival.
